MIGRATION uses birds leaving a figure’s hair as a metaphor for personal transformation. Some birds continue their journey while another figure tries to keep them close, reflecting our reluctance to embrace change even when it has already begun. Drawing on her own experience, Nicoy Downes considers the fear of leaving familiar circumstances and the possibilities that can follow when change is accepted.
