Crowning Glory honours Black women’s natural hair as a site of ancestry, spirituality, creativity and resistance. Locs rise like a crown, asserting dignity and self-definition. The work recognises the cultural memory held in braids, coils and locs, while confronting the scrutiny and discrimination Black women continue to face. Hair becomes both sacred inheritance and an expression of sovereignty.
