'Angel of Thornton Heath' is a love letter to the Windrush Generation and its descendants, the original combined acrylic paint with vintage wallpaper collage.

The celestial is not often associated with working class suburbs in South London. It is also rarely associated with blackness or afro hair.

In this portrait of a young black South Londoner, the artist rebalances the ideals of beauty and divinity. Working for the first time with collage techniques, the layer of wallpaper and paint build up to the golden afro which dominates the piece.
